The Gospel in Action

No, I haven't posted...Summer seems to have come and almost gone. I've taken a trip to Utah, spent time with family in the Olympic National Park, and successfully (I think ;0) ) accomplished another YW camp. But a small event tonight pushed me to post.

Tonight Ian decided to take a bike ride, without supervision, and within 15 minutes I could not find him. I searched the neighbors backyards, and nearby neighborhoods. Soon my neighbors were out searching. 15 minutes turned into an hour with no avail. One ward neighbor heard the news, and called other ward members, soon the Bishop had joined the search. My dear neighbor, not of my faith, offered a prayer asking us to have the inspiration to know where to look. One hour soon turned into almost 2. Police were involved and news had spread. My 15 year old neighbor sent a text to everyone in her phone book ;0) People who didn't even know me or my sweet Ian were out looking for him.

Although it felt like forever, eventually my neighbor came and told me they had found him. Ian had no idea what had happened. He had no idea he had wondered close to a mile from home. He had found a pink motorized Barbie car and was cruising the streets. Some sweet members from another ward saw him and stopped, taking the time to talk with him, and keep him calm till word came back to me! Tonight I have Ian back with me because so many people cared, were willing to give up their plans for the evening, and search for my sweet, unaware, carefree little boy! Words can not express the gratitude I feel to these people, and to the Lord for bringing them into my life! Thank you doesn't seem to do justice. I love you all, and am eternally grateful to each and every one of you! Now I think I'll go and cuddle my sweet Ian!

Elisabeth, Our oldest grandson is alot like Ian. He is now 7 and will be 8 in Feb. He also wanders away, unaware that he is not where he should be or where his parents know he is. Several times the police and others have had to find him. It is a horrible ordeal for all, except James who is totally oblivious. May God give you extra strength to deal with all of it as a parent. We are so blessed with the gift of the gospel and all it means in our lives. It is truly a priviledge to rear these sweet spirits from God for a previous little time. Thanks for sharing your posts with us.

As I frantically read this post I couldn't help but smile when you described Ian cruising the streets of Enumclaw in pink Barbie car--love it and love Ian! I can't even imagine the horror of going through it though. Love you and we're grateful he is okay!

How scary! I'm sure those hours felt like eternity. I am so glad he is safe and you have so many caring people around you. We are all so blessed!

Yeah, the pink Barbie was a great touch Ian. ;) But in all seriousness, I had to cry a little when I heard about this little adventure--I'm glad everything turned out well!
